Attempt off until 2009
Thursday, 29 May 2008

Message received today by email from Steve Smith, working as skipper aboard a British Yacht Gigi

"Still stuck in Carribean (Tortola). Setting off (hopefully) next week. Having to go to Bermuda then Azores, Gigi won’t get to its destination in the Med’ until at least the first week in July, leaving me no time to prepare.
Back in S.Lucia (December) there was wide spread fraud from the ATM and in the Bank, told a week later it was safe to use cards again.
Three weeks ago I found my account sucked dry by Nigerians, so I can’t do anything about it until I return to the UK.
I’m very disappointed and frustrated, but the trip has got to be done in 2009.
I can prepare/modify the dinghy this coming winter without rushing"
